I think every business knows, Social Media is changing the way we market our businesses. Traditional advertising has went to the internet and social media, people still use TV, Radio, and Print but it is not as effective as it once was. I literally cannot keep up with all these different social media sites.

Facebook will be the focus of the article today. Facebook is one of the best social media outlets to market your business. I’m sure many of you who are reading this have a Facebook Fan page for your business or for I think every business knows, Social Media is changing the way we market our businesses. Traditional advertising has went to the internet and social media, people still use TV, Radio, and Print but it is not as effective as it once was. There are so many social media sites I can’t keep up.

The platform I want to talk about is Facebook. I think Facebook is right on top when it comes to marketing your business. I’m sure many of you who are reading this have a Facebook Fan page for your business or for yourselves, I’ll also bet many of you started your fan page thinking all of your friends and customers would all become fans to help you spread the word about your company. And then it happened, you’re stuck with 50 fans of your page, it does not grow at all and you forget it exists! Let me explain how I’ve been able to build fan pages from 50 all the way up to 6800 fans and growing.

People think of Facebook like traditional advertising when they first get started, they post the same ads over and d over. People on social media sites are there to communicate with their friends and do fun things, not to think they are being marketed to all day. So news feeds are not the best places to spam ads? That’s right, they would rather not and quite frankly you probably don’t either. You might be wondering, what do I post on my news feed? I’m going to explain what I’ve done so you can understand for your industry.

I use this tool for several businesses; the first one I’ll explain is my largest one. One fan page I have is for a travel business it is called Vacationing More and I have a Whopping 6800 fans, Instead of just posting vacation deals I post pictures of vacation destinations and polls. this gets people interacting with the site and then other people see that and add the fan page. What this does is gets people to interact with your page, and that is what Facebook likes to see. Every time someone interacts with my page, It posts on there news feed, when it goes on there news feed guess what happens? When it posts on their newsfeeds I am now marketing to all there friends.

This is great because I get new visits to my page and some become fans.
My next biggest fan page is for Jersey’s Bar and Grill, my Restaurant / Bar. Photos and videos are our best way to market, we add watermarks with our logo on the photos with our logo. What ends up happening is people start tagging themselves in the photos and it becomes free advertising for us.

Posting videos on the page is a great way to build your fans. Everyone loves watching videos online. I like using YouTube Videos because you can see how many times they are watched. We do post specials on this page also but we try and keep it fun so people interact with the page as much as possible.
I have also created a network marketing fan page, this helps me build leads for my network marketing business. In the last couple of months I’ve grown the fan base to more than 800 fans, mainly from posting quality things people want to read. I try to post a few times a day, I also keep it relevant to what they want to here. I let other fans promote whatever they want on this page, while I rarely post my opportunity on the page.

Facebook also lets you advertise your fan page on the side bar. This is a great way to promote you page at first to build some initial fans. If you spam Facebook fans with things they don’t want you will never succeed with this tool.

I’ll also bet many of you started your fan page thinking all of your friends and customers would all become fans to help you spread the word about your company. You end up with 40 fans and know one knows it exists and then you stop posting on the page! I’ve build massive fan pages from 40 fans to 6850 fans, keep reading to find out how.

People think of Facebook like traditional advertising when they first get started, they post the same ads over and d over. What most people don’t realize is people on social media sites are sick of advertising; they are there to connect with their friends. So why would they want to see your ad on there news feed? Exactly they don’t and neither do you. You’re probably asking, then what are you suppose to post on your news feed? I’m going to explain what I’ve done so you can understand for your industry.

I have multiple businesses and I’ll start with my biggest fan page of all, it is for my travel company. The fan page is called Vacationing More and it has around 6800 fans, Instead of always posting vacation deals, I post great beach pictures, surveys asking people where they would like to vacation, Travel Tips and things like that. What this does is gets people to interact with your page, and that is what Facebook likes to see. When someone comments on your page it goes in their news feed for everyone of their friends to see, when this happens your going to grow? When it posts on their newsfeeds I am now marketing to all there friends. Because of this new people become fans of my pages.

There is advertising through Facebook on the right hand side bar. This will get your page a jumpstart to build some fans. If you spam Facebook fans with things they don’t want you will never succeed with this tool.
